We are recruiting on behalf of an established and independently run international freight forwarder for an experienced Air Freight Operator to join their team in Caterham. The Role
Reporting to the Team Manager, you will support the day-to-day handling of air freight shipments from booking through to completion. You will deal directly with customers, airlines, overseas agents and suppliers, ensuring shipments are processed accurately and kept moving efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing air import and export shipments from booking through to completion
- Preparing and checking air freight documentation
- Liaising with customers, airlines, overseas agents and suppliers
- Monitoring shipment progress and following up on delays or missing information
- Responding to customer queries and providing regular shipment updates
- Supporting quotations, rate requests and booking arrangements
- Checking supplier invoices, costs and shipment charges
- Maintaining accurate job files and system records
- Resolving operational issues and escalating where necessary
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
- Providing a high level of customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle
About You
We are looking for someone who already has solid experience within air freight forwarding and understands the pace and requirements of an operational environment. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Air Freight Operator / Air Freight Coordinator position
- Good knowledge of air freight processes, documentation and terminology
- Experience handling import and/or export shipments
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple shipments and competing priorities
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- A positive, reliable and proactive approach
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
