Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Customs Operator to join our clients Solihull-based team. You will be responsible for processing accurate import and export declarations, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations, and supporting the smooth movement of international shipments via the Customs Declaration Service (CDS).
Customs Brokerage Clerk Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit import and export entries using CDS
- Classify goods correctly using UK Global Tariff commodity codes
- Calculate duties and VAT accurately
- Review and verify commercial invoices, packing lists, and transport documents
- Liaise with HMRC, freight forwarders, carriers, and customers
- Manage EORI details and deferment accounts
- Resolve customs queries, holds, and discrepancies promptly
- Maintain compliant records in line with HMRC requirements

- Proven experience in customs clearance or freight forwarding
- Working knowledge of CDS and UK import/export procedures
