I currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Road Freight Operator with strong knowledge of European road transport, imports and exports and customs procedures to join a fast-paced, client-focused logistics company based in Trafford Park, Manchester.
Job type: Permanent
Shifts: Monday to Friday - 08:00-17:00
Salary: Up to Β£37,000
Day to day:
- Providing accurate and competitive quotations for European road freight movements, covering both import and export operations.
- Managing UK and European road freight bookings, ensuring all export documentation and customs requirements are fully compliant.
- Overseeing UK import road freight pricing requests, bookings, and related operational queries.
- Liaising with customers regarding collection and delivery schedules, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the shipment process.
- Monitoring and managing shipments from collection through to delivery, proactively identifying and resolving any issues or delays.
- Working closely with Europe-based teams to coordinate timely EU collections and UK deliveries, including support for UK cross-docking requirements.
- Preparing and responding to quotation requests promptly and accurately.
- Producing accurate invoices and issuing them to clients via the internal system.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, delivering service excellence and supporting repeat business.
Requirements:
- Proven European road freight experience with a UK based forwarder.
- Right to work in the UK (No sponsorship is on offer).
- Export and Import experience.
- Customs awareness and understanding of current export procedures.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- The ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for customer service and relationship management.
