Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30

My client is seeking an experienced Ocean & Road Export Coordinator to join their growing operations team in Rotherham. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight forwarding professional with experience in international exports who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and customer-focused logistics environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing export shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring all movements are completed efficiently, profitably and in full compliance with customs and international shipping regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate international Ocean and European Road export shipments from start to finish.
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers by providing accurate information and maintaining a professional, proactive approach.
  • Gather and verify all shipment information to ensure export jobs are processed accurately, efficiently and invoiced profitably.
  • Monitor and control export shipments through effective communication with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and internal departments.
  • Progress customer orders and provide regular shipment updates throughout the transport process.
  • Prepare and follow up customer quotations, maximising shipment profitability while identifying opportunities to promote additional company services.
  • Plan export loads efficiently to maximise payload, profitability and operational efficiency, working collaboratively with other branches where required to coordinate co-loading and off-loading.
  • Prepare and review export documentation including Bills of Lading, CMRs, commercial invoices, packing lists and customs documentation.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of UK Customs regulations, export compliance requirements and providing guidance to customers where appropriate.
  • Liaise closely with customs teams to ensure shipments are processed quickly and accurately in line with customer requirements.
  • Ensure all jobs are administered in accordance with company accounting procedures, including accurate costing, invoicing and profitability checks.
  • Notify management of any potential claims and assist in gathering the necessary information to resolve claims promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records across all operating systems, ensuring documentation and shipment files remain fully compliant and up to date.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, customers, overseas partners and suppliers.
  • Support other departments and undertake additional duties appropriate to the role when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within Ocean Freight Exports, Road Freight Exports or Freight Forwarding Operations.
  • Strong knowledge of export documentation and international freight procedures.
  • Understanding of UK Customs regulations and export compliance.
  • Experience using freight forwarding software such as CargoWise, Sequoia or similar.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to maximise shipment profitability.
