A global freight forwarder is looking for an experienced Regional Commercial Manager to join its road freight division, covering Essex and the surrounding region. This is a senior commercial role focused 100% on road freight, responsible for driving regional revenue growth, developing new business, managing key customer relationships, and supporting the wider commercial strategy across UK and European road freight services.
The role would suit a commercially driven freight forwarding professional with a strong background in road freight sales, business development, and regional commercial management.
The Role
- Leading commercial activity across the region, developing both new and existing road freight business.
- Working closely with operations, pricing, and senior leadership teams to identify opportunities, improve profitability, and deliver sustainable growth.
- Driving regional commercial growth across road freight services.
- Developing new business opportunities within Essex and the surrounding region.
- Managing and growing key customer relationships.
- Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of road freight opportunities.
- Selling UK and European road freight solutions to new and existing clients.
- Preparing rates, proposals, tenders, and commercial agreements.
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure service delivery supports commercial objectives.
- Reviewing account performance, profitability, margins, and revenue growth.
- Supporting regional sales strategy and contributing to wider commercial plans.
- Attending customer meetings, networking events, and industry appointments.
- Maintaining accurate activity, pipeline, and customer information on the company CRM.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have a proven commercial background within freight forwarding, transport, or logistics, with strong road freight knowledge.
You will need:
- Experience in freight forwarding, road freight, logistics, transport, or supply chain.
- Proven success in business development, sales, or commercial management.
- Strong knowledge of UK and European road freight services.
- Ability to win new business and develop existing customer accounts.
- Commercial awareness, including pricing, margins, profitability, and revenue growth.
- Confidence dealing with customers at senior decision-maker level.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid regional role.
- A full UK driving licence.
