The Role
Working as part of a specialist operations team, you will be responsible for managing both import and export shipments, with a particular focus on exports for a key aerospace customer. This is a highly operational role where attention to detail, urgency and excellent communication are essential.
You will also play a vital role in coordinating Aircraft on Ground (AOG) shipments, ensuring critical aircraft parts and components are moved as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing air freight import and export shipments from booking through to delivery
- Coordinating UK and European road freight movements
- Handling urgent AOG shipments with speed and precision
- Completing customs clearances and ensuring full compliance
- Liaising with airlines, hauliers, overseas partners and customs authorities
- Monitoring shipments and providing proactive updates to customers
- Preparing and checking all freight documentation
- Resolving operational issues and ensuring service levels are consistently achieved
What We're looking for
- Previous experience within air freight operations (imports and exports)
- Exposure to road freight operations
- Experience completing customs clearances
- Knowledge of AOG or other time-critical freight is highly advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise urgent shipments
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work independently on night shifts
