We are currently working with a well-established engineering services provider to recruit a Combustion Service Engineer to support a growing portfolio of industrial clients across Scotland. This is a varied, field-based role offering the opportunity to work on industrial combustion systems and steam plant, with strong earning potential through overtime and ongoing technical development.

The Role

  • As a Combustion Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of combustion and gas systems across a range of industrial sites.
  • You will operate in a fast-paced environment, responding to both planned maintenance schedules and reactive breakdowns, while working closely with internal technical teams and clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on combustion equipment
  • Responding to breakdowns and participating in an on-call rota
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and repair of gas and combustion systems
  • Installation and commissioning of industrial burners and associated plant
  • Monitoring performance and ensuring optimal system operation
  • Producing detailed service reports and technical documentation
  • Building strong relationships with clients on-site
  • Identifying opportunities for upgrades and energy efficiency improvements
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices
  • Collaborating with wider engineering teams to resolve complex issues

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced field service engineer with a strong background in combustion or industrial gas systems.

Essential:

  • HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Valid commercial gas qualifications (e.g. COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1, BMP1, TPCP1)
  • Proven experience in a field-based service role
  • Strong understanding of combustion systems and gas principles
  • Experience fault finding and working under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience working on industrial boiler systems and steam plant
  • Additional gas certifications (e.g. CORT1, CDGA1, TPCP1A)
  • Knowledge of leading burner manufacturers (e.g. Autoflame, Riello, Nu-Way, etc.)
  • Electrical qualifications (e.g. 18th Edition)
  • BOAS certification or similar

The Package

  • Salary: £45,000- £70,000 (depending on experience)
  • Significant overtime available (higher earnings achievable)
  • Company vehicle
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Exposure to a wide range of industrial systems

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm
  • Participation in on-call rota and overtime as required
  • Occasional working away depending on project needs
