My client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team at a state-of-the-art cement manufacturing facility in Co. Louth. This is a key role within the engineering function, offering the opportunity to work on both day-to-day plant maintenance and large-scale improvement projects in a heavy industrial environment.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring optimal plant performance, safety, and efficiency while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Maintenance
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance team
- Take ownership of a specific plant process area
- Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance programmes are executed effectively
- Plan and coordinate major shutdowns and overhauls
- Manage external contractors on designated projects
- Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues to maximise plant availability
- Drive continuous improvements in safety and environmental standards
- Identify and scope projects that enhance operational and financial performance
- Support projects from design and construction through to installation
- Lead commissioning activities and project handover
About You
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline)
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar industrial environment
- Strong understanding of health & safety within heavy industry
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated technical expertise with solid commercial awareness
- Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proven track record of contributing to business performance improvements
