We're recruiting a Building Services Design Engineer for a growing specialist HVAC and mechanical contractor based in Manchester. This is a hands-on design role supporting commercial air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical projects from initial concept through to detailed design and project delivery.
The Role
- Produce mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial projects
- Carry out heat loss / heat gain calculations
- Size and select air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical plant
- Produce drawings, schematics and technical specifications
- Coordinate designs with project managers, estimators and site teams
- Review consultant drawings and client requirements
- Support technical submissions and equipment selections
- Assist with value engineering and design optimisation
- Attend design meetings and site surveys where required
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations
The Candidate
- Experience in Building Services, Mechanical or HVAC Design
- Strong understanding of:
- Air conditioning
- VRF / VRV
- Ventilation
- Mechanical building services
- Confident producing technical drawings and calculations
- Experience with AutoCAD and ideally Revit
- Good understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Mechanical or Building Services qualification preferred
