CNC Turning Programmer & Setter

Location: Stoke on Trent Job Type: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday day shift Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A long-established precision engineering company is looking for an experienced CNC Turning Programmer & Setter to join its skilled manufacturing team on a permanent basis.

The company has over 20 years' experience supplying high‑quality components and assemblies across sectors including science and medical, oil and gas, automotive and other precision-led industries.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC lathes, with Fanuc controls being essential.

This is a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, working from engineering drawings and supporting production to ensure high‑quality output.

This role would suit someone confident, proactive and experienced, who enjoys problem‑solving, working independently and contributing to a small, highly skilled team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set and operate CNC turning machines
  • Work confidently with Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Produce precision components to required specifications
  • Carry out checks to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Support day‑to‑day manufacturing requirements
  • Identify and resolve production or machining issues
  • Work independently while contributing to the wider team

Qualifications

  • Strong experience setting and operating CNC turning machines
  • Experience with Fanuc controls is essential
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Solid background in manufacturing or precision engineering
  • Practical problem‑solving skills
  • Hands‑on and proactive approach
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Strong team spirit and positive attitude
  • GCSEs or equivalent preferred but not essential
