A growing, internationally recognised manufacturer of outdoor and technology-integrated equipment is seeking a talented and ambitious Product Design Engineer to join its in-house design and engineering team. With a strong pipeline of new product development projects and continued global growth, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of innovative products - from early concept through to production manufacturing. You'll work on market-leading solutions used in demanding outdoor, transport and industrial environments worldwide.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys developing physical products, building prototypes and collaborating closely with engineering, supply chain and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities- Research, design, prototype and test new product concepts from initial idea through to production.
- Present design concepts and feasibility proposals to internal teams and external partners.
- Build prototypes and conduct in-house testing in workshop and real-world environments.
- Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support tooling cost reviews.
- Work closely with global suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable and production-ready.
- Review and approve production samples.
- Create renders and animations to support marketing and product launches.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in product design or design engineering.
- Degree in Product Design, Design Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing and delivering projects independently.
- Experience developing products with integrated electronics, ideally low-voltage or automotive-style systems.
- Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
- High proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred); experience with FEA and rendering desirable.
- Hands-on workshop, prototyping and model-making skills.
- Experience collaborating with electronics engineers and certification processes.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience working in fast-paced product development environments.
- Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
