If you're an experienced technical sales professional who enjoys being out in front of customers, influencing major projects and turning relationships into revenue, this could be a role worth exploring.

I'm working with a well-established global engineering manufacturer looking for an Area Sales Manager to take ownership of growth across the North. This isn't a traditional account-management position. You'll be at the heart of the commercial strategy - identifying opportunities, influencing specifications and working with end users, contractors, OEMs, consultants and dealers to ensure the business is specified and ultimately selected.

What will you be doing?

  • Build and grow strategic relationships with key customers, consultants, dealers and end users
  • Identify new projects, markets and commercial opportunities and turn them into profitable orders
  • Influence customer specifications at an early stage to position the company's products for success
  • Develop commercial and technical strategies for major tenders and project opportunities
  • Work closely with internal BDM and General Management teams to deliver revenue, margin and market-share targets
  • Take ownership of key accounts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Bring customer and market intelligence back into the business to help shape future product development
  • Represent the company at exhibitions, seminars and customer events
  • Spend around 80% of your time in front of customers, with the autonomy to manage your own territory and relationships

What are we looking for?

You’ll ideally have 5+ years’ technical sales experience within engineering, oil & gas or another closely related industry, with a proven track record of negotiating and closing sales. You’ll be commercially minded, confident dealing with everyone from operational contacts through to board level, and comfortable having conversations that influence both technical specifications and purchasing decisions. An Engineering Degree is preferred, but relevant technical and commercial experience will be considered.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:

  • Builds genuine, long-term customer relationships
  • Is proactive and comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for them
  • Can influence and negotiate with technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Takes ownership and sees projects through to completion
  • Has the drive to grow both existing accounts and new markets

What's on offer?

£50,000-£80,000 depending on experience + £6,500 car allowance. Alongside the package, you’ll have the opportunity to join an established engineering business, work on significant projects across the sector and have real influence over customer relationships, market growth and future opportunities.

If you’re an experienced technical sales professional looking for a role with genuine autonomy, strategic responsibility and plenty of time in front of customers, get in touch.
