Our client is looking for an experienced Pump Technician to join a growing team within the water industry. This is a hands-on role involving the maintenance, repair, and installation of pumping equipment across clean and/or wastewater sites. You will play a key part in ensuring the reliable operation of critical water infrastructure, supporting both planned maintenance and reactive breakdowns.
Responsibilities include:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on pumps, motors, and associated equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on pumping systems
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency callouts as required
- Install, commission, and test new pump systems and equipment
- Work on-site at water treatment works, pumping stations, and related facilities
- Complete accurate maintenance records and service reports
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and site operators to ensure efficient operations
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience as a Pump Technician or in a similar mechanical/electrical maintenance role
- Strong understanding of pumps, valves, motors, and rotating equipment
- Basic electrical knowledge (fault finding, wiring, testing preferred)
- Experience within the water industry or similar utilities sector (desirable)
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- EUSR Water Hygiene card
