I am seeking an experienced Harvest Manager to take full responsibility for the planning, organisation and delivery of the harvest operation for a grower based in Chichester.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead the harvest team and manage all aspects of harvest activity, ensuring produce is picked, handled and delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage harvest operations, labour and logistics
- Produce short- and medium-term harvest plans and forecasts
- Lead, motivate and manage harvest teams and team leaders
- Set picking rates and monitor earnings in line with company policy
- Ensure quality, food safety, legality and shelf life standards are met
- Oversee chilling, handling and communication with the packhouse
- Control harvest costs, budgets and accurate record-keeping
- Support other departments outside the main harvest season as required
About You
- At least 2 years' experience in the soft fruit industry
- Proven team management experience
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Competent with basic computer systems
- Flexible with working hours during peak periods
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys responsibility, problem-solving and working in a fast-paced harvest environment.
