The Opportunity
We are partnering with a highly respected advanced engineering organisation operating at the forefront of mission‑critical electronics and high‑reliability systems. Supplying into aerospace, defence, space and specialist industrial markets, this business is known for precision, innovation and engineering excellence. They are now seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join their R&D function, taking ownership of complex electronic system design from concept through to production release. This is a technically demanding role suited to an experienced engineer who thrives in high‑integrity, regulated environments.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading the design and development of analogue and digital electronic systems used in high‑performance applications.
- Full lifecycle electronic design (concept, schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, validation, production release)
- Analogue and mixed‑signal circuit design (low‑noise, precision measurement, power management)
- Digital design including microcontrollers, FPGA or high‑speed interfaces
- Design for EMC compliance and regulatory standards
- Support environmental qualification (temperature, vibration, shock testing)
- Conduct design reviews, FMEA and risk mitigation
- Support transition from prototype to manufacturing
- Work cross‑functionally with mechanical, systems and firmware engineers
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
Required Experience
- Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in electronic design within aerospace, defence, instrumentation or similar high‑reliability sector
- Strong analogue design capability (signal conditioning, power electronics, sensor interfaces)
- Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, Mentor, or similar)
- Understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques
- Experience working to regulated standards (e.g. aerospace or defence compliance frameworks)
- Familiarity with FPGA or embedded systems advantageous
- Experience taking products from concept to production
