A well-established machine tool supplier is seeking an apprentice-trained Applications Engineer (or CNC Programmer / Machinist) to join its experienced field-based training and applications engineering team. This role would suit someone from within the machine tool or precision engineering sector who enjoys customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and hands-on machine work. Experience across turning and milling is highly desirable.

The Role

  • Working nationwide, you will support customers across a broad range of CNC machine tools, delivering training, applications support, and technical guidance both pre- and post-sale.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Training customers on the use of CNC machine tools
  • Supporting customers to maximise machine capability and performance
  • Demonstrating machines pre- and post-sale
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Providing technical support to customers and internal teams
  • Feeding back technical issues and best-practice improvements
  • Recommending process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Candidate Requirements

  • Completed a minimum 4-year engineering apprenticeship
  • Strong background in CNC programming and machining
  • Comfortable working hands‑on with machine tools
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills
  • Experience with turning and milling machines preferred
  • Exposure to ProtoTRAK® and/or Siemens controls beneficial (training provided)
  • Willing to travel nationwide, including occasional nights away
