Responsibilities
- Join our dynamic underwriting team, where you will play a key role in supporting senior underwriters and contributing to the delivery of our Class Business Plan.
- This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical underwriting expertise, help mentor junior team members, and build strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- You will handle a varied portfolio, write and review business with discipline and precision, and ensure our underwriting standards and regulatory commitments are consistently upheld.
- To support the senior Underwriters in achieving Class Business Plan.
- To support the training of Underwriting Assistants and Assistant Underwriters.
- To write business in accordance with the business plan and underwriting guidelines.
- Underwriting contracts of insurance according to Underwriting Guidelines, appetite and authorities.
- Ensuring all risks are recorded in accordance with procedures.
- To Peer Review risks of other Underwriters.
- Ensuring that maintenance of the records are carried out in accordance with.
- Review new business enquiries and look to secure new orders through a selective and disciplined underwriting approach, in accordance with pricing and underwriting frameworks.
- Ensure renewal accounts are retained, with pricing and coverage amendments implemented in line with underwriting guidelines.
- To provide information and assistance to ensure all staff can carry out their responsibilities.
- To ensure wordings on risks written are appropriate, reviewed and developed where appropriate.
- To act in accordance with all regulatory standards and principles at all times.
- To assist with credit control on the accounts written within the underwriting team.
- To be aware of all matters relating to the underwriting team and report on this when required by the business.
- To be available for business travel, where possible, whether that be market conferences or client visits.
- To uphold a consistent and efficient level of service to brokers and clients.
Qualifications
- London transportation market knowledge.
- US Transportation market and Lloyds standard wordings knowledge.
- Underwriting experience of the Class of Business.
- Good analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- ACII qualification or working towards the qualification preferred.
