The Role
We are recruiting a Shift Engineer to join a key site in Leeds. This is a hands‑on role working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, responsible for maintaining building services systems and ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and compliantly at all times. You’ll be part of an on‑site engineering team delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
- Maintain and repair building services systems including HVAC and plant
- Undertake gas‑related maintenance works in line with Gas Safe regulations
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency callouts during shift
- Identify faults, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions
- Complete all works in line with health & safety and compliance standards
- Accurately record works completed using site systems
- Liaise with subcontractors and site stakeholders where required
About You
- Proven experience working as a Shift Engineer or Building Services Engineer
- Gas Safe qualified (essential)
- Relevant engineering qualification (mechanical or electrical bias)
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable working a 4 on 4 off, 12‑hour shift pattern
- IPAF qualification desirable, but not essential
- Good understanding of H&S, compliance, and safe systems of work
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently on shift
