We are looking for an experienced Technical Services Manager to lead the delivery of high‑quality hard services at the prestigious Wellcome Genome Campus in Cambridge. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will drive excellence across M&E maintenance, compliance, and project delivery—ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer‑focused environment for a world‑leading scientific research campus.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and manage supervisors and engineering teams delivering M&E maintenance, compliance, and operational excellence
- Drive performance and development of your team, ensuring robust training and succession planning
- Oversee supply chain partners, ensuring best value procurement and high compliance standards
- Build strong client relationships, presenting KPI and MI reports and ensuring exceptional service delivery
- Ensure compliance with Wates Operating Framework and all SHEQ standards
- Support project delivery, including extra works and M&E/fabric upgrades
- Mobilise new buildings, carrying out due diligence, risk assessments, and condition reporting
Essential Experience
- Strong background in hard FM / M&E services delivery
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in a customer‑focused environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and operational demands
Qualifications & Technical Expertise
- Recognised qualification in a relevant trade (Electrical, Mechanical, Gas, or F‑Gas)
- Minimum 5 years' experience at supervisory or managerial level within hard services FM
- Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting project costing and delivery
Desirable
- BIFM (IWFM) qualification or equivalent
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification
- Experience using CAFM / PPM systems (e.g. Concept)
