Wates Property Services is delighted to be mobilising a brand-new social housing planned works contract across the Birmingham area – one of the largest contracts within our business. As part of this exciting growth, we're looking to appoint an Assistant Surveyor to support the successful delivery of a diverse programme of planned maintenance and improvement works.

About the Role
Working alongside experienced Surveyors and operational teams, you'll support the commercial and operational delivery of planned maintenance projects across occupied social housing properties.
The programme will include a range of planned works such as:
- External and internal refurbishments
- Roofing renewals
- Window and door replacements
- Energy efficiency improvements
- Retrofit and decarbonisation works
- Kitchen and bathroom programmes
- General planned maintenance projects
You'll assist with surveys, specifications, project monitoring, reporting, cost control and stakeholder engagement to help ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of planned maintenance and retrofit programmes.
- Undertake property inspections and condition surveys.
- Assist in preparing specifications, schedules of work and reports.
- Monitor project progress and quality on site.
- Support contractor and supply chain management.
- Liaise with residents, clients and operational teams.
- Assist with commercial tracking and project reporting.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- A degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in:
- Building Surveying
- Quantity Surveying
- Construction Management
- Property Studies
- Or a related surveying discipline
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within social housing, planned maintenance or property services.
- Knowledge of planned works, refurbishment, retrofit or housing maintenance projects.
- Understanding of construction contracts and project delivery.
