Wates Property Services (WPS) is looking for an experienced Roofer to join our Responsive Maintenance team, working on a social housing contract in the Barnsley area. You’ll be carrying out day‑to‑day roofing repairs and maintenance across occupied social housing properties, delivering a high‑quality service while maintaining excellent standards of safety and customer care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsive roofing repairs and maintenance across social housing properties
  • Undertake roof inspections, fault diagnosis and remedial works
  • Work in line with Health & Safety, safeguarding and company procedures
  • Communicate effectively with schedulers, supervisors and residents
  • Complete job records and materials used via a handheld/PDA system
  • Work collaboratively with other trades when required
  • Deliver a professional, customer‑focused service in occupied homes

About You

  • Proven experience as a roofer, ideally within social housing or responsive maintenance
  • NVQ Level 2 in Roofing (or equivalent) – essential
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
  • Experience working in occupied properties
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements
  • Reliable, professional and customer focused
