About the Nursery

A well-established nursery setting caring for up to 53 children aged 6 months to 5 years.

Number of Childcare Staff: 15

Age Range: 0 years 6 months – 5 years 0 months

Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 18:00

Closed: Bank Holidays & 1 week at Christmas

Parking: Free car park and unrestricted free street parking available

Role Overview

The Nursery Room Leader will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of a designated room, ensuring high standards of care, education, safeguarding, and compliance with EYFS requirements. You will lead, motivate and support room staff to deliver outstanding childcare provision while creating strong partnerships with parents and carers.

Key Responsibilities of Nursery Room Leader

  • Lead and manage a team within your designated room.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Oversee planning, observations, assessments, and next steps for children.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and welfare requirements are consistently met.
  • Act as a key person and support key person practice across the room.
  • Support staff development through mentoring and supervision.
  • Build strong, professional partnerships with parents and carers.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider nursery team to maintain high standards across the setting.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Childcare and Education qualification
  • Previous experience working within an early years setting
  • Experience leading or supervising staff
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

  • Experience as a Room Leader
  • Level 5 qualification or working towards higher qualification
  • Experience supporting staff training and development
