The VP, Connected Commerce & Consultancy UK will lead the development of WPPM’s upstream commerce capability in the UK, focusing on strategic advisory, consultancy-led growth, and integration of commerce into broader client business strategy. This role is accountable for positioning WPPM as a strategic commerce partner to clients, moving beyond activation into areas such as portfolio strategy, go-to-market design, retail and marketplace strategy, connected media planning, and complementary commerce models including social commerce and agentic commerce. Working closely with the VP Commerce UK and Growth leadership, this role will unlock new revenue streams through consultancy, strengthen senior client relationships, and ensure commerce is embedded early in client planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Connected Commerce consultancy agenda
  • Define and lead the UK Connected Commerce consultancy proposition, establishing clear, productised offerings that address client needs across strategy, retail, media, and business.
  • Lead senior client engagements, shaping end-to-end commerce strategies that connect brand, trade, retail media, marketplaces, and owned.
  • Act as a senior strategic partner to clients, building relationships with C-suite stakeholders across marketing, commerce, and commercial.
  • Translate complex commerce ecosystems into clear, actionable frameworks and growth plans.
  • Develop strategic solutions across key areas including:
    • Retail and marketplace strategy (e.g. Amazon, Tesco, Boots)
    • Social commerce and shoppable media (e.g. TikTok Shop, Meta, Pinterest)
    • D2C and owned commerce ecosystems
  • Drive revenue growth through consultancy
  • Identify and convert consultancy opportunities into fee-based engagements, building a sustainable and scalable revenue stream.
  • Partner with Growth and Client Leads to expand scope within existing clients and unlock new upstream opportunities.
  • Ensure consultancy engagements translate into downstream media and commerce activation.
  • Support the development of commercial models, pricing structures, and go-to-market approaches for consultancy.
  • Integrate commerce across capabilities
  • Act as the connector across media, commerce, content, data, and technology teams to ensure delivery of a unified Connected Commerce.
  • Work closely with VP Commerce UK to ensure seamless transition from strategy into activation.
  • Embed commerce thinking into broader media strategy, planning, and measurement.
  • Ensure alignment between consultancy outputs and operational execution across teams.

  • Designing end-to-end Connected Commerce strategies for key UK clients, linking brand, media, and retail.
  • Leading consultancy engagements focused on retail and marketplace strategy, go-to-market design, and commerce.
  • Shaping commerce strategy for priority new business pitches and major clients.
  • Developing reusable consultancy frameworks and tools to scale Connected Commerce across clients.
