What does a UK Risk & Controls Manager do at WPP Production? The Risk & Controls Manager strengthens WPP Production’s UK financial control environment and governance framework, ensuring financial reporting controls are well‑designed, effective, and scalable across the UK production business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates new, enhanced, and/or revised ICFR in-scope processes to ensure proper controls are established or continue to be present, control gaps or weaknesses are identified and recommends proper controls required to meet ICFR and audit guidelines.
- Assist with the development of the SOX process flows, narratives, risk and control matrices of business processes, and information technology platforms relevant to financial reporting.
- Conduct or participate in walkthroughs and other meetings with process and control owners to ensure compliance with control guidelines.
- Evaluate the operational effectiveness of entity-level controls and business process key controls in accordance with ICFR testing guidance.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of business risks, controls, and testing methodologies as they relate to auditing of financial reporting and SOX controls.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve operational efficiency and productivity.
- Manages and drives solutions for stronger controls, and in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives which may include oversight of procedures/process, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, and control design.
- Assists with translating control deficiencies into action plans and provides recommendations to enhance governance practices in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks.
- Directly liaise with auditors to schedule and co-ordinate audits and ensure timely delivery of samples, responses to queries and managing portal information.
Requirements:
- Experience in audit, risk, or financial controls.
- Strong ICFR / SOX framework knowledge.
- Experience with business and technology controls.
- Ability to translate risk into practical actions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Analytical, pragmatic, and improvement‑focused mindset.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
