What does a Render Wrangler do at WPP Production?
We are seeking a highly organised and technically confident Render Wrangler to support the smooth running of CG, motion and VFX workflows at Gramercy Park Studios. This role is responsible for managing render jobs, monitoring render farm activity, troubleshooting issues, and helping ensure that artists and production teams can move efficiently from work-in-progress to final delivery. This is a key support role within a busy commercial post production environment. You will work closely with CG artists, motion designers, compositors, artists and producers to keep projects running smoothly, prioritise render resources, maintain order across files and outputs, and help the team deliver high-quality work at speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor and prioritise render jobs across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Support artists with scene preparation, render submission, output checks and troubleshooting.
- Help maintain efficient render workflows across CG, motion and VFX pipelines.
- Ensure renders, passes and outputs are correctly named, versioned, logged and delivered to the appropriate teams.
- Work closely with artists and production to prioritise urgent jobs and flag issues early.
- Check completed renders for errors, missing frames, corrupt outputs or technical inconsistencies.
- Prepare and organise assets for handoff to compositing, Flame, finishing or delivery teams.
- Help maintain clean file structures and consistent workflow practices across projects.
- Support the wider team with basic pipeline coordination and technical problem-solving where needed.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a post production, VFX, CGI or motion design environment.
- Good understanding of render workflows within Deadline, file management, image sequences and version control.
- Familiarity with CG and compositing pipelines, ideally across tools such as Maya, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Nuke or similar.
- Strong organisational skills and close attention to detail.
- Calm, proactive approach in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with artists, producers and technical teams.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the wider studio wherever needed.
Desirable
- Advanced knowledge of scripting or pipeline tools.
- Familiarity with commercial post production workflows and fast-turnaround advertising delivery.
- Understanding of how work is handed through to compositing and finishing teams.
