That's why we’ve adopted a hybrid approach, with teams in the office around four days a week. If you require accommodations or flexibility, please discuss this with the hiring team during the interview process.

The Role

The Senior Digital Project Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping HEX Studio’s evolution as WPP’s frontier studio built for the era of AI and advanced creative technology. Reporting directly to the HEX Programme Lead, the role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of AI‑native workflows, CGI production, gaming (Unreal Engine/Unity), and immersive experiences (AR/VR/XR), alongside innovation workstreams like WPP Open Pilots, Production Studio demos, and proofs of concept. This requires a unique ability to translate strategic ambitions into actionable delivery plans, bridging creative, technical, and operational teams to ensure that frontier technologies are deployed effectively, creatively, and responsibly. The Senior Digital Project Manager oversees a portfolio of cutting‑edge projects, ensuring that all work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of innovation, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end project management of AI and advanced technology initiatives—from scoping and planning to execution and delivery—specifically leveraging WPP Open to build and deploy AI‑powered production, agentic workflows, CGI, and real‑time gaming solutions.
  • Initiate and execute highly complex creative‑tech projects, including scope, budget, and schedule definition. Ensure effective management of scope changes, technical briefing, burn rates, and progress tracking.
  • Manage projects with at least a £250K budget, ensuring rigorous financial tracking, resource allocation, and reconciliation.
  • Act as the crucial bridge between client/agency requirements and our specialist frontier teams (AI engineers, prompt engineers, CGI artists, real‑time developers, and data engineers), translating complex technical concepts into clear actions and deliverables.
  • Promote agile, iterative, and rapid‑prototyping delivery approaches suited to fast‑evolving tech environments; coach internal teams and clients to embrace experimentation, AI‑assisted workflows, and rapid learning.
  • Act as an internal source of expertise in the digital and creative‑tech project management field, establishing best practices for managing non‑traditional, AI‑native creative pipelines.
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team, training them on frontier project lifecycles and emergent workflow best practices.
  • Represent HEX Studio to clients, brand partners, and broader WPP agencies, ensuring clear communication, education, and alignment on frontier production capabilities.
  • Oversee project closure documentation to ensure learnings from R&D, pilot programs, and AI workflows are captured and scaled across the wider network.

Requirements

  • All Project Managers must demonstrate proven capability in the following areas:
  • Scope Management: Control the work included in a project, ensuring that highly complex, experimental, and fluid tech scopes can be delivered within agreed parameters.
  • Time Management: Ensure timely completion of projects, adapting traditional sprint and Gantt structures to fast‑paced AI and real‑time 3D pipelines.
  • Cost Management: Plan, estimate, and control costs so that projects can be completed within the approved budget; this includes resource planning for specialised talent (e.g., Unreal devs, AI specialists) and project reconciliation.
  • Quality Management: Ensure project delivery meets the exceptionally high creative and technical standards defined by HEX Studio and our global clients.
  • Resource Management: Task‑manage globally distributed, highly specialised technical and creative project teams.
  • Communication Management: Link people, highly technical ideas, and creative visions seamlessly throughout a project life cycle.
  • Risk Management: Identify, analyse, and properly respond to project risks, particularly those associated with emerging technologies, IP, and beta‑phase software.
  • SCRUM/Agile: Use Agile/Scrum methodologies fluidly within a creative technology and R&D environment.
  • Client Servicing: Guide, educate, and manage client needs through the entire life cycle of pioneering tech projects.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong practical understanding of AI models, their application in creative production, and familiarity with real‑time 3D/gaming pipelines (Unreal Engine/Unity) and CGI.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of Digital Project Management/Production experience.
  • Creative Tech Agency Experience: Experience working in digital, innovation, or creative production agencies on large global accounts.
  • Decoupled & Collaborative Ecosystems: Experience working in a decoupled environment and collaborating effectively with other agencies, third‑party developers, and tech platforms.
  • Enterprise Tech & Content Engines: Strong knowledge of Enterprise Content Management systems, DAMs, and CRM systems.
  • Experience delivering large‑scale technology projects, innovation workstreams, and pioneering digital products.
  • Global Teams: Proven experience managing globally distributed, multi‑disciplinary project teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Cross‑office and international project management experience.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language.
  • Copywriting/Editing skills, particularly for technical documentation.
  • Test Management & Execution – Understanding of QA practices.
