What does a Grade Producer do at WPP Production?

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Grade Producer to join our UK Post Production team to lead the planning, management and delivery of colour grading projects across our post production operation. This role is central to ensuring grading work is delivered smoothly, creatively and efficiently across a fast‑moving commercial environment. This is a specialist production role for someone with a strong understanding of the grading process, colour workflows and finishing pipelines, and who is comfortable coordinating projects across multiple sites, teams and workflows.

You will work closely with colourists, producers, editors, online teams, creatives, clients and agency partners to ensure projects are scoped properly, scheduled effectively and delivered to the highest technical and creative standard. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a post‑production, finishing or colour‑focused production environment and will understand how to support both premium attended sessions and more distributed, agile workflows. You will be calm under pressure, highly solutions‑oriented and confident managing complex delivery needs across a range of projects, formats and timelines. You will play a key role in helping the team deliver excellent colour work at scale – balancing creative ambition, technical accuracy and operational clarity across the full grading process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage grading projects from brief through to final delivery, ensuring clear scope, timings, workflow and resource planning from the outset.
  • Act as the key point of contact for colour‑related projects, connecting clients, agency teams, creatives, colourists and wider post production teams throughout the process.
  • Build and manage schedules for grading sessions, reviews, conforms, versioning and delivery, aligning resources effectively across multiple sites and workflows.
  • Partner closely with colourists and finishing teams to support a smooth and well‑prepared grading process, ensuring all required assets, references, technical specs and approvals are in place.
  • Coordinate colour workflows across different systems, teams and project types, helping ensure consistency, efficiency and confidence across the operation.
  • Manage budgets, estimates, cost tracking and reconciliations for grading and colour finishing work, maintaining strong commercial control throughout.
  • Run attended and remote review sessions professionally and calmly, creating an environment in which clients and creatives can focus on the work.
  • Work closely with editorial, VFX, CGI, online, audio and delivery teams to ensure grading is integrated seamlessly into the wider post production pipeline.
  • Anticipate and solve problems relating to availability, workflow, technical setup, client feedback, approvals and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure projects are managed with a strong understanding of colour‑critical review conditions, delivery standards, version control and final output requirements.
  • Support the continuous improvement of grading workflows, operational processes and ways of working across the business.
  • Build strong relationships with colourists, assistants, online teams and post producers, helping maintain a collaborative, high‑performing studio culture.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience as a Grade Producer, Colour Producer, Finishing Producer or similar role within a high‑end post production, finishing or commercial content environment.
  • Excellent understanding of grading and colour finishing workflows within high‑end post production.
  • Good working knowledge of industry‑standard grading and finishing environments, including Baselight and DaVinci Resolve, and an understanding of how projects move across different systems and teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different workflows, stakeholders and delivery requirements.
  • Experience working closely with colourists, editors, online teams, producers, agency partners and clients in a commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of conform, grading, versioning, review and delivery processes across a range of formats and platforms.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing schedules, scopes, budgets and reconciliations.
  • Calm, solutions‑focused and highly detail‑oriented, with the ability to keep projects moving smoothly under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset and the confidence to coordinate work across multiple sites and operational setups.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with remote review workflows and distributed post production models.
  • Understanding of HDR, colour pipeline considerations and modern multi‑format delivery requirements.
  • Experience supporting global brand work, adaptation or multi‑market versioning projects.
  • Awareness of AI‑enabled workflow opportunities within post production and finishing environments.
