The Role:
As Business Director you will be deeply embedded within Dyson's creative and production ecosystem at their Malmesbury campus. This is a critical, high-impact role focused on enhancing Dyson's primary production workflow, establishing essential governance structures, and driving significant strategic and organic revenue growth for WPP Production.
You are a strategic hunter-farmer who will act as a trusted advisor, intimately understanding Dyson's evolving needs.
Your mission will be to identify and unlock new opportunities, ensuring WPP Production is Dyson's preferred partner for all scales of content production, while actively guiding and mentoring our embedded creative talent. Your onsite presence will be key to understanding challenges, providing immediate support, and fostering a seamless, integrated partnership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Growth Business Development:
- Revenue Growth: Drive significant revenue growth for WPP Production within the Dyson account, expanding our footprint across creative support functions, film production, and design capabilities.
- Opportunity Identification: Actively identify and bring in new workstreams, particularly in agile and high-volume content production, by working closely with Dyson's creative and production teams.
- Cross-Selling Expansion: Focus on extending WPP Production's full breadth of services to Dyson, aiming to grow our design expertise and secure work across all regions.
- Platform Adoption: Champion the adoption and utilization of WPP Production's proprietary tools and platforms to streamline workflows and unlock new production efficiencies for Dyson.
- New Business: Play a key role in identifying and developing new business opportunities or expansions within the broader Dyson ecosystem.
- Partner with the Global Client Lead (GCL) Global Delivery Lead to align on strategic growth objectives and deliver excellence.
2. Onsite Client Partnership Relationship Management:
- Embedded Advisor: Act as the primary, day-to-day trusted advisor for Dyson's creative and production leadership, providing guidance and counsel from an onsite perspective to help them achieve their business objectives.
- Problem Solving: Proactively understand Dyson's internal resourcing challenges and operational gaps within their creative and production departments, and offer immediate, tangible support and solutions from WPP Production.
- Relationship Health: Responsible for the day-to-day management of the overall client engagement, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
- Expectation Management: Expertly manage Dyson's expectations for WPP Production, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Strategic Insights: Deliver regular (monthly/quarterly) strategic insights and recommendations to Dyson, demonstrating our value and forward-thinking partnership.
- Account Governance: Partner with the Global Client Lead (GCL) Global Delivery Lead to drive robust account governance, including Quarterly and Annual Business reviews.
3. Operational Governance Leadership:
- Governance Champion: Crucially, support Dyson in strengthening and evolving their governance structure for global creative and production teams, addressing current operational challenges.
- Team Leadership (Internal External): Guide and mentor WPP Production's embedded creative talent, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure they are integrated and delivering effectively for Dyson.
- Workflow Enhancement: Collaborate closely with Dyson's creative and production leads to significantly enhance and optimize their primary production workflow.
- Empowerment: Empower both WPP Production's embedded team and Dyson's teams to find solutions, removing barriers to success, and fostering a culture of ownership.
- Inspiration: Inspire both internal WPP Production teams and relevant Dyson stakeholders to continually push for better, epitomising our brand values.
4. Financial Stewardship:
- Support with P&Ls, budgets, and forecasting specifically for the Dyson account.
- Partner with WPP Production's Client Delivery, Finance, and Commercial Teams to review revenue and plan against regular revenue analyses to maximize commercial opportunities.
- Leverage profit levers to drive profitability across the Dyson account portfolio.
5. Collaboration Culture:
- Work collaboratively with WPP Production's internal capability experts (Creative, Production, Operations, Technology, Finance, SMEs) to unlock opportunities for growth within Dyson.
- Maintain a high level of trust and respect among department heads across WPP Production.
- Contribute to WPP Production's culture by exhibiting ownership, professionalism, passion, and leading by example, fostering an environment of fresh thinking, collaboration, respect, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Champion sustainability within WPP Production and Dyson's content creation processes.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience: Extensive experience (e.g., 10+ years) in a senior Production Client Services, marketing, integrated campaigns/digital agency, or consultancy environment.
- Client Relationship Expertise: Exceptional client relationship skills, adept at navigating multi-stakeholder environments, matrix reporting structures, and providing a strong industry point of view.
- Proven experience driving positive client satisfaction and proactively addressing complex client situations.
- Business Financial Acumen: Strong business and financial acumen, with a demonstrated ability to manage P&Ls, forecasts, and drive significant revenue growth through strategic and organic means.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to identify strategic opportunities within a complex client organization, understanding their competitive landscape and business objectives.
- Governance Workflow: Proven experience in establishing or significantly improving governance structures for creative and production workflows within a large enterprise.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and empower complex teams to achieve outstanding results. Experience in guiding creative or production teams is highly desirable.
- Communication Storytelling: Outstanding ability to write clear, cohesive, and focused client communications, including strategic presentations with strong storytelling skills. Experience in mentoring team members in these skills.
- Adaptability: A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving client environment like Dyson, with an authentic passion for great work, teams, and business transformation.
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with various content production methodologies, including agile, high-volume content creation, and an understanding of how data and technology can elevate creative output.
- Onsite Commitment: Ability to be based full-time at the Dyson Campus in Malmesbury.
