About the Role
The Production Accountant ensures accurate, compliant, and efficient financial management across production projects. They oversee approvals, payments, WIP, billing, and reconciliations while maintaining clear financial visibility for stakeholders. They champion strong financial governance from project start to close and build effective partnerships across production and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure correct approvals and payments are in place before work commences and support upfront payment processes for production shoots.
- Review WIP with Producers/PMs monthly, updating system commentary and ensuring all job admin is complete.
- Support the reconciliation process at project close and help clear actions preventing timely job closure.
- Manage billing requests, credit notes, and intercompany PO processes in collaboration with commercial teams.
- Work closely with the revenue team on month-end tasks including accrued and deferred income, SOX commentary, and accurate revenue recognition.
- Review and resolve billing, approvals, and AP rejections with relevant teams.
- Provide system support and training on Maconomy Core and Lumos for new starters.
- Run ad-hoc reports, respond to production and finance queries, and support internal/external/client audits.
- Identify process gaps or inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain strong communication with intercompany and billing teams to ensure seamless financial workflow.
Reporting
This role reports to the UK Commercial Director and works closely with Producers, Project Managers, Commercial, Billing, Revenue, Job Approvals, and AP teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in WIP management, job reconciliations, and revenue processes.
- High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, deadline-driven approach.
- Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively across teams.
- Experience using Maconomy is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks, priorities, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address process gaps.
- Confidence interpreting financial data and providing clear commentary.
- Able to work independently while contributing to team success.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
