Role Summary and Impact

The Media Planning Account Director leads a team of planners, serving as the primary face of Essence’s acquisition media planning product. Responsibilities include strategic planning, forecasting, reporting, client relationship management, campaign performance oversight, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Point of contact for planning across clients; lead weekly meetings and presentations.
  • Oversee and quality‑assure all deliverables produced by junior team members.
  • Deliver high‑quality strategic presentations, actionable reporting, and clear briefs to activation.
  • Present clear and compelling media investment rationale and evidence of campaign performance.
  • Work with activation and analytics to design test‑and‑learn frameworks.
  • Take responsibility for media budget performance against intended outcomes.
  • Escalate team issues and contribute to internal thought leadership and workflow enhancement.
  • Set the quality standard for planning deliverables and improve them over time.

Management Responsibilities

  • Motivate and coach a team, providing timely feedback.
  • Maintain strong spreadsheet, formula, and AI scripting skills.
  • Support client satisfaction and manage resource allocation.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels and escalates issues when needed.
  • Recognize and celebrate good work.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a digital media agency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; analytical thinking and numerical fluency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of influencing clients and partners.
  • Team‑oriented and capable of independent work.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to coach juniors.
