Job Overview

We’re looking for a Media Planner to join the adidas and This Girl Can team – working across all aspects of adidas business (adidas focus on 5 core categories Brand, Women’s, Football, Running, Originals) alongside Sport England, This Girl Can campaigns. The role sits within EssenceMediacom’s specialist entertainment department – TED. Our clients are hugely passionate about their brand and their products – so the ideal candidate would also have a shared interest in sport, music, fashion, lifestyle and culture. The successful candidate will have regular client contact from the outset and be exposed to all media disciplines, each of which play a role on our plans.

Responsibilities Of The Role

  • Build a strong relationship with your clients and become a trusted partner.
  • Develop a solid understanding of your client’s business, marketing, and the role media plays.
  • Be a confident communications planner who demonstrates a clear understanding of our DPAM approach and The Open platform (our proprietary Planning tool).
  • Develop an understanding of digital, data, and marketing technology, and how we use them to drive growth for our clients.
  • Be the go‑to expert in your team for audience and category insight, ensuring all work we develop is evidence based.
  • Actively participate in ‘Acceleration’ and ‘Stretch’ sessions on your clients, and those within your business group.
  • Ensure we have a seamless working process between the Comms & Implementation Planning.
  • Build a clear understanding of EssenceMediacom’s functions and how each specialist area can drive growth for your clients.
  • Promote your team’s brilliant work, both within EssenceMediacom and beyond.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to agency wide planning initiatives (e.g. Huddles).
  • Build and maintain the strong working relationship we have with our specialist teams (AV, OOH & Digital) who are a key component of our success as a team.
  • Help take ownership with the Account Manager, of EssenceMediacom’s financial practices on the campaigns you are working on.
  • Positive client feedback – our clients are incredibly collaborative and want us to challenge them.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the sports, fashions and music landscape, the complexity of the different audience segments and how this impacts the way in which we plan media.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with our specialists in TED as well as the Global and Central MediaCom teams.
  • Contribute to best practice ways of working with internal central teams.
