PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to help prospective team members better understand the role and responsibilities of the position of Solutions Project Manager at OpenDoor, WPP’s bespoke global operating model for Amazon. The role may also be referred to as Technical Project Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Solutions Project Manager to introduce the delivery rigour needed to turn complex Data and Technology requirements into clear, manageable and achievable plans. This role sits at the centre of OpenDoor’s advertising data and technology delivery environment, aligning dependencies, milestones, resources and decisions across Data Excellence, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Measurement, Product and wider technical partners. This role is based in London and reports into the OpenDoor VP Excellence & Engineering (Solutions Architect) leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate agreed solution scope into end-to-end delivery plans covering discovery, requirements, design, build, quality assurance, user acceptance, deployment, handover and closure.
  • Map and actively manage cross-discipline dependencies, critical paths, sequencing and hand-offs across Data and Technology teams and external partners.
  • Work with solution owners and discipline leads to confirm objectives, deliverables, acceptance criteria, assumptions and exclusions, maintaining traceability from requirements through to delivery and sign-off.
  • Establish proportionate governance, including project kick-offs, workstream plans, RAID management, decision logs, status reporting, change control, steering forums and escalation routes.
  • Partner with discipline leads to identify required skills, resource demand, availability and constraints, highlighting capacity conflicts early and supporting prioritisation decisions based on delivery impact.
  • Create clear, reliable communication structures for client and account stakeholders, including delivery milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, changes and recovery plans.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between data, engineering, BI, measurement, product, operations, market and client teams, ensuring actions have clear owners and completion dates.
  • Identify and assess risks and issues, drive mitigation and resolution, maintain escalation discipline, and evaluate the impact of requested changes on scope, timeline, quality and resource.
  • Coordinate quality assurance, user acceptance, documentation, training, access, support models and production-readiness checks before release or handover.
  • Provide concise, evidence-based reporting on milestones, forecast dates, delivery confidence, resource pressure, decisions required and corrective actions.
  • Review delivery performance and lessons learned, then improve templates, workflows and project controls to increase consistency, transparency and predictability across the Data and Technology portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience delivering complex technical, data or digital projects in a matrixed organisation, agency, consultancy or software environment.
  • A strong track record of building and managing integrated plans that span multiple technical disciplines, teams, markets or delivery partners.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches, with the judgement to apply proportionate controls to different types of work.
  • Experience managing scope, milestones, dependencies, RAID logs, change control, governance forums, status reporting and delivery recovery plans.
  • Clear and confident communicator with strong stakeholder management and facilitation abilities, able to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues across cross-functional account teams, markets and business functions.
  • Confidence working with technical specialists across data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, cloud platforms, software development, data governance or adjacent fields.
  • Experience with media campaign data, digital ad serving technologies, AdTech, MarTech, data platforms or reporting solutions is desirable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using project and work-management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet or Wrike, and maintaining a reliable single source of truth for delivery.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum or equivalent project-management certification.
  • A structured, accountable and adaptable working style, with close attention to detail and the ability to maintain momentum in a fast-paced global environment.

BENEFITS OF OPENDOOR

  • Unparalleled access: Gain direct experience working with one of the world’s most innovative and influential companies.
  • Mentorship and training: Learn from experienced professionals across WPP and the broader OpenDoor partnership.
  • Cutting-edge technology: Work with industry-leading data, technology and workflow platforms, including WPP Open.
  • Data-driven environment: Strengthen your ability to turn complex data and technology activity into measurable client outcomes.
