Role Summary and Impact
As Marketing Manager, in the newly formed WPP Media Growth team you will have high energy, strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, be a self-starter ready to take ownership of projects and always looking to raise the bar on what the department produces. You need to be an excellent collaborator, able to work directly with client teams within agency brands to uncover and showcase the best client work and understand the needs of all WPP Media clients, the issues they face and what they need from our business in terms of communications, thought leadership and events. We are looking for an entrepreneurial spirit, critical thinker and a team player who is curious to learn more about WPP Media and the great stories we can bring to life.
The main responsibilities cover:
- Drive, develop and implement a long-term marketing and communications strategy that aligns with WPP Media’s overall business objectives and long-term goals to build a strong reputation as the leader of the industry, with exceptional agency brands and clients.
- Delivery of a client communications strategy and content calendar to give WPP Media and its agencies a competitive advantage.
- Understand the problems and opportunities that our clients face across all brands and what they need from us as a key partner to navigate them through it.
- Ensure successful delivery within each of these function focus areas:
- Building relationships with key client teams to ensure consistent news sharing both ways.
- Understand our relationship with the client and identify the risks and opportunities that the marketing team can support with.
- Extract the news from the team (new work, wins, growth opportunities etc) that can become key content, PR and awards entries, and ensure that the client teams are aware of updates and from the business that need to be communicated with clients (good news, organisational updates, events, PR etc).
- Create consistent Client communications – finding the best ways for us to update and engage with clients every month – from branded bespoke newsletters, social media interactions and posts, thought leadership and events.
- Creating Case studies and awards: work with client teams, and communications leads to build strong case studies that highlight the partnership between the group and its clients – and enter and win them in our industry’s most prestigious award shows.
- Deliver extraordinary client experiences at internal and external events, for example Media360, Madfest, the GroupM Next series (name to change), smaller, bespoke client events and internal OpenHouse events.
- Editorial, content and thought leadership: Ensure client teams and clients are equipped with relevant POV’s and news covering key industry topics, enhancing the overall client experience and enabling agency client leaders. Develop a systematic approach for the development of these to ensure speedy delivery.
- Management of all external vendors including copy writer and design team.
- Creating, executing, and monitoring marketing campaign budgets.
- Measuring key performance metrics, including website traffic, audience engagement, service quotas, bounce rate and ad spend return on investment.
- Managing and creating appropriate content for a variety of channels.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient and within budget use of funds.

First 100 days
- As part of a wider team, put in place a plan of how we work closer with client teams across the whole business, creating key partnerships within teams that opens up opportunities to put our client experience at the heart of what we do.
- Work with the wider team on ensuring that our flagship event (NextM) is our best yet, that it aligns with client needs, feels progressive within the industry.
- Launch our first tailored client newsletter, aimed to give each client company information they need, want and enjoy reading.
First year
- Support in increasing client satisfaction as per overall Vantage score results.
- Look to steadily increase client engagement rates across newsletters, events and social media activity.
- Create a cadence of hard working client events that feel both relevant to their needs as well as progressive and provocative around happenings in the industry.
Ongoing
- Made a significant difference to client retention and more prospective clients having a positive perception of WPP Media and its agencies when deciding to review their existing agency relationships.

- Advanced or excellent Microsoft programmes including Excel, PowerPoint, Team etc.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent organisational and project management skills.
