3375 - Manager, Video, UK
Role Summary and Impact
We are looking for an AV Manager to support the day-to-day AV planning and buying across a key T&P client, Smart Energy, managing £10m+ AV investment annually, alongside other WPP Media clients.
We want an enthusiastic and passionate individual who will work closely with our internal specialist teams and wider client stakeholders to deliver smart, innovative, and effective AV solutions, focussed on the UK market.
The role requires an AV practitioner with good base knowledge of TV, BVOD/VOD, Online Video, Cinema and Audio planning and buying, in addition to strong communication and organisational skills.
TV & Video is the focus, we will ensure training for Audio if you don’t have experience across this channel yet.
Our UK remit is focused on AV planning and buying, however you will need a good understanding of wider brand and performance media, and how AV fits within the broader communications ecosystem.
You will need to build strong relationships with your day-to-day clients, external agency partners, internal specialist teams, and those working within your own team.
This role is largely focussed on Smart Energy; however, it will also include work across the Energy Networks Association (ENA) and News UK.
There will be a smaller focus on other agency initiatives and the chance to contribute to new business pitches where required.
Smart Energy has a hugely important role in helping consumers understand, adopt and make the most of smart meters and the benefits they can bring to households and the wider energy system.
This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to shape innovative and effective media activity for a high-profile and long term public engagement campaign, working with a committed client team and a broad range of stakeholders.
As a government affiliated organisation, our scope supports Smart Energy as they develop new initiatives to ensure households understand their energy needs and usage.
ENA represents the energy networks that transport gas and electricity across the UK and Ireland.
Its work supports the transition to a smarter, more flexible and lower-carbon energy system and our media activity informs the nation of the benefits this will provide, including more sustainable energy sources, more jobs and the potential for new on/near shore energy production so that the UK relies less on importing.
News UK is one of the UK’s leading media businesses, with a famous portfolio of news, entertainment and sport brands across print, digital, radio and video.
Our UK remit is focused on offline media channel planning; however, you will need a good understanding of brand and performance media, as we work closely with wider agency partners and client teams. You will need to build good relationships with your day-to-day clients, external agency partners, internal specialist teams, and those working within your own team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting AV planning and buying across Smart Energy, ENA and News UK.
- Assist in building and maintaining implementational plans across TV, BVOD/VOD, online video, cinema and audio, with a strong focus on detail and delivery.
- Help turn client briefs into clear, well-structured responses informed by audience insight, market knowledge and commercial awareness.
- Work closely with the Account Director and wider team to keep campaigns moving smoothly from briefing through to booking, delivery and post-campaign review.
- Maintain strong relationships with day-to-day client contacts, while supporting the development of broader client relationships over time.
- Take ownership of the operational detail across campaigns, including booking checks, pacing, deadlines, forecasts and campaign reporting.
This includes full management of TV buying, supported by execs.
- Support senior team members with commercial decisions and help ensure delivery remains efficient, accurate and aligned to client objectives.
- Liaise regularly with media owners and internal specialists to resolve issues, secure opportunities and keep delivery on track.
- Help monitor campaign performance and contribute to recommendations for optimisation, learning and future planning.
- Bring market awareness, curiosity and ideas to support innovation across AV output and new formats.
- Contribute to new business activity or client transitions where required, providing support rather than leading overall output.
- Assist with coaching or day-to-day guidance for junior team members where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in AV planning and buying across TV, BVOD/VOD, online video, cinema and audio.
- A solid understanding of how AV fits within the wider media mix, with awareness of both brand and performance objectives.
- Confident managing day-to-day client relationships, with a calm and professional approach.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working closely with senior colleagues and taking direction while also owning day-to-day delivery.
- Good understanding of media owner negotiations, booking processes, campaign delivery and reporting.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear responses and present confidently when needed.
- A collaborative team player who works well across internal specialists and wider agency partners.
- Comfortable using media planning tools and systems, with a willingness to learn and develop further.
- Analytical and commercially minded, with the ability to spot issues early and help solve them quickly.
- A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck into hands-on delivery.
- Some experience supporting junior colleagues is useful, but this role is not a senior leadership position.
