Industry Analyst (12 Month- FTC) Role Summary and Impact

We are looking for a sharp, highly motivated individual to join our team as an Industry Analyst.

The Role

The Industry Analyst will play a crucial role in providing in-depth analysis and insights on key advertising and media trends, competitive landscapes, and macroeconomic impacts. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and combines financial modeling skills with strong written communication. This role will be part of WPP Media’s Global Business Intelligence team which produces and publishes This Year Next Year, the industry standard for media forecasting.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on assigned industries and or topics, including macroeconomics, sectors like CPG, media industry dynamics and key social and technological drivers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive media landscape, including key players, market share, and competitive strategies.
  • Track and analyze industry news, company filings, and relevant data sources to identify emerging trends and insights for GroupM clients.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support market sizing and forecasting.
  • Prepare well-structured and insightful research reports, presentations, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with team members and investment teams to develop and refine media forecasts and provide perspective on media owner and advertisers strategies.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in investment banking, equity research, media research, management consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, OR Google Workspace, particularly Sheets.
  • Experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet) is a plus.
  • A passion for the media and advertising industry is highly desirable.
