Role Summary and Impact

The Employee Relations Team is responsible for providing guidance on and directly handling employee relations matters to ensure our people are treated fairly and respectfully across the organisation. This team of experts will advise and support employees, managers, and People Partners (HRBPs) on a broad range of escalated employment issues including HR policy interpretation, performance management, complaint investigation, employee discipline and misconduct, accommodations, terminations, reorganisations, and remediation of employment-related disputes.

Your Impact:

  • Interpret and apply understanding of corporate policies, practices, and EMEA employment laws to provide objective, consistent, and compassionate guidance on complex employee relations inquiries.
  • Maintain and build out our centralised EMEA database and dashboard of corporate policies, local regulations, and best practices, ensuring a single source of truth across the region and local market nuances, where applicable.
  • Conduct end-to-end HR investigations, gathering facts, analysing data, and applying relevant policies and laws to recommend fair, consistent, and risk-mitigating resolutions.
  • Uphold rigorous data integrity by maintaining comprehensive, GDPR-compliant documentation (including investigative notes and final reports) and ensuring the regional ER case tracker is updated weekly with open cases, and closing out completed cases.
  • Utilise a centralised case management system to track, analyse, and report on case trends, translating data into actionable insights to help the Executive Director, People and WPP ER team identify systemic issues.
  • Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation tools to modernise ER processes, utilising technology to streamline case intake, draft documentation, and improve policy accessibility across the region.
  • Proactively address trend insights by partnering with the Executive Director, People and WPP ER to deliver targeted ER training and capability-building programs for managers, HRBPs, and employees.
  • Manage critical regional ER processes, including the severance workflow and ethics training reporting, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and local compliance.
  • Partner closely with internal WPP legal departments to navigate high-risk cases, leveraging data-driven insights to mitigate legal and organisational risks.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in disciplinary and grievances leading and conducting investigations.
  • Experience identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues in a human, unbiased, and legally compliant manner.
  • Experience in working in a HR team and role i.e. HR Advisor, HR Business Partner.
  • The ability to provide guidance and coaching to managers and People teams, and leaders to address employee behaviour and performance concerns.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner and appropriately escalate issues.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Have a collaborative approach when working with peers, senior leaders and across organisational lines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment, active listening, and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable working with data to analyse key metrics to uncover trends and root causes and maintaining central databases and dashboards.
