Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Head of Communications and Engagement will lead how we connect Enterprise Technology's strategy, priorities and achievements with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
Through compelling storytelling, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, you'll help people understand the value of our work and the impact technology is having on WPP's transformation.
This is a highly visible leadership role with the opportunity to influence senior stakeholders, drive engagement across a global technology community, and champion innovative approaches to communications, including the use of AI and emerging technologies.
Combining strategic influence with hands-on delivery, you'll play a key role in helping Enterprise Technology build understanding, engagement and advocacy across WPP.
What you'll be doing
- Lead delivery of Enterprise Technology's communications and engagement strategy, ensuring communications support ET's strategic priorities, align with WPP Communications priorities and contribute to WPP's broader business objectives.
Develop integrated communications plans, establish clear measures of success, and use insight and data to continuously improve employee engagement, stakeholder understanding and business impact.
- Drive engagement, connection and culture across the ET community through compelling storytelling, leadership communications, town halls, employee recognition, communities and innovative engagement approaches.
Champion creative communications techniques, industry best practice and emerging technologies, including AI, to create engaging experiences that build participation, understanding and advocacy.
- Demonstrate the value of ET's transformation to the business through strategic communications and stakeholder engagement.
Bring to life Enterprise Technology's contribution across AI, platform modernisation, cyber security, colleague experience, operational excellence and enterprise transformation, translating complex initiatives into clear, relevant and compelling narratives.
- Lead communications and engagement for major transformation programmes, working closely with programme directors, project managers and change managers to support awareness, understanding and adoption.
Provide leadership and governance to Change Communications Managers embedded within programmes through a dotted-line reporting model, ensuring alignment to ET priorities, communications standards and stakeholder engagement objectives.
- Build strong relationships and communications capability across ET and WPP, acting as a trusted advisor to the ET Leadership Team and Extended Leadership Team.
Develop communications assets, frameworks, toolkits and channels that empower leaders and colleagues to communicate effectively, while fostering a connected communications community that promotes consistency, collaboration and best practice.
- Support ET leaders to tell the Enterprise Technology story externally through approved channels, events, thought leadership and industry engagement, working closely with Group Communications to ensure alignment with WPP communications priorities, governance and reputation objectives.

What you'll need
Skills and experience
- Significant experience in senior communications, engagement or change communications roles within large, complex organisations.
- Proven experience developing and delivering communications, stakeholder engagement and transformation communications strategies that drive measurable outcomes.
- Excellent writing, storytelling and executive communications skills, with the ability to translate complex technology topics into clear, compelling business narratives.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience advising senior leaders and building effective relationships across a matrix organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, leading campaigns, communications channels, events and engagement programmes from concept through to execution.
- Creative and innovative mindset, with experience using industry best practice, emerging technologies, AI and engagement techniques to increase participation, understanding and advocacy.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively, manage competing demands and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive self-starter who takes ownership and drives work forward with minimal supervision.
- Degree qualified in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business or a related discipline.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 Copilot and other AI-enabled communications tools is desirable.
