Role Summary and Impact

As an Implementational Planning Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering day-to-day excellence in cross-channel planning and activation. Working closely with Account Directors and specialist teams, you will support the translation of client media strategies (from Strategists and Comms Planners) into detailed, actionable implementational plans across all media (digital, audio, VOD, AV). Your focus is on executing plans, ensuring seamless delivery, and contributing to measurable client outcomes for both brand and performance objectives. You will align your work with the OASIS (objective, audience, strategy, Implementation & scoring) framework within the WPP Open ecosystem, contributing to cross-channel optimisation, applying media testing frameworks, analysing performance data, and supporting the coordination of insights for Post-Campaign Analyses (PCAs).

Reporting Structure: Reports to Implementational Planning Account Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Client Delivery: Assist Account Directors in delivering integrated planning and activation, preparing comprehensive implementational responses, and maintaining strong client and partner relationships.
  • Cross-Channel Planning & Execution: Contribute to translating overarching media strategies (from Comms Planners and Strategists) into detailed tactical plans across all channels, developing integrated roadmaps aligned with brand and performance goals, adhering to the OASIS framework.
  • Optimisation & Performance Support: Support cross-channel optimisation efforts, contribute to implementing measurement (including media testing frameworks), analyse performance data, and assist in coordinating insights for PCAs.
  • Innovation & Capability: Support the implementation and testing of new tools and technologies (e.g., AI-driven optimisation), utilising WPP Open and WPP Open Intelligence for data opportunities and testing initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Account Directors, Comms Planners, Strategists, and activation specialists across all channels, contributing to a unified approach within the WPP Open ecosystem.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in media planning, digital activation, or implementational planning, supporting complex client accounts and integrated media strategies.
  • Solid understanding of cross-channel planning (digital, audio, VOD, AV), data analysis, integrated media testing, and client relationship support.
  • Ability to contribute to translating high-level brand and performance strategies into detailed tactical plans across the media mix, aligned with the OASIS framework.
  • Good knowledge of the full media landscape and core media buying platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of leveraging performance data for optimisation, with an understanding of media testing frameworks and WPP Open Intelligence.
  • Proficiency in planning and optimisation tools (including WPP Open) and an awareness of integrating AI-driven tools.
  • Ability to support client relationships, contribute to presentations, and manage expectations.
  • Collaborative mindset, fostering productive working relationships with internal teams and partners.
  • Proactive, problem-solving approach, eager to learn and stay abreast of market trends in media testing and new channels.
