Role Summary and Impact

The Financial Accountant is a newly created role within the WPP Media UK Finance team, reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control. This position will be pivotal in supporting a range of financial reporting, compliance, and central reporting activities. The successful candidate will act as the go-to person for technical accounting support (IFRS) and will be instrumental in all audits across the Group (group, stats, WPP internal audits, and SOX). A key focus of the role will be a deep dive into the balance sheet to identify and track risks and opportunities, supporting the month-end close process, and assisting in the implementation of robust Transfer Pricing procedures. This role provides a significant impact by offering first-class support to the wider finance teams, strengthening compliance, and providing key financial insights to senior leadership.

Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 1-2 years PQE.
  • Significant and recent experience required from audit practice to be able to understand audit approaches and challenge as appropriate.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proactive and investigative mind-set.
  • A desire for continuous improvement.
