Analytics Senior Associate – Government

We deliver this through the Open Media Studio, an AI‑enabled media and data platform for the next era of advertising. Our UK analytics capabilities are central to our success, empowering WPP Media’s clients with a full range of analytics services that deliver tangible impact.

This role sits within the broader WPP Media analytics structure, drawing on the specialist expertise of modelling, analytics consultancy, and data science & solutions teams.

Position Overview

The Analytics Senior Associate, Government will be an integral member of the dedicated analytics team supporting the UK Government account. This role is designed for individuals with 2‑3 years of experience who are eager to deepen their expertise in marketing effectiveness and data analysis. The Senior Associate will be actively involved in the delivery of measurement and insight projects from beginning to end, from data analysis and report production to supporting client presentations. The role demands a strong analytical mindset, a keen interest in developing expertise in various measurement techniques, and the ability to autonomously produce accurate and insightful reports to inform critical UK Government communication strategies.

Client Leadership

  • Support client interactions by preparing data visualisations and analytical summaries for presentations to UK Government clients and agency teams.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including suppliers and internal WPP teams, throughout the measurement process to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Contribute to understanding client project needs and objectives, assisting in the delivery of relevant and useful insights.

Strategic Measurement & Delivery

  • Assist on the delivery of measurement and insight projects from beginning to end, taking increasing responsibility for project components.
  • Help to analyse diverse data sets, identifying trends and patterns, and drawing useful conclusions from the insights.
  • Autonomously design, create, and produce accurate campaign performance reports from client specifications, ensuring they meet both internal and external client needs.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the full range of digital performance metrics, their typical applications, and limitations.
  • Become an expert user of various measurement techniques such as marketing mix modelling, qualitative & quantitative research, and digital attribution.
  • Develop a core understanding of digital advertising and ad‑serving technology, gaining relevant accreditations where applicable.
  • Become a fluent user of advanced Excel and competent in using all visualisation tools available at WPP (Power BI, Tableau, Data Studio, Omniscope, etc.) and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Work with planning and activation teams to ensure the learnings from previous analysis are fed back into future planning cycles.
  • Contribute to understanding the drivers of performance beyond marketing levers to provide a broader view on maximising client performance.

Commercial Growth & Innovation

  • Learn about the commercial side of research projects, including working to client budgets and collaborating with external suppliers.
  • Actively engage in industry discussions and training to stay updated on the latest measurement techniques and analytical tools.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Collaborate effectively with a range of people across the team, demonstrating strong team‑player attributes.
  • Be an active member of relevant industry bodies (e.g., Media Research Group), and attend their training and events where applicable.
  • Develop an understanding of relevant third‑party suppliers and identify which ones are most appropriate to support on projects.

Skills And Experience Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, or marketing.
  • Proven experience in marketing effectiveness, media measurement, or data analysis, preferably within an agency environment.
  • A strong analytical mindset, with an ability to identify trends and patterns within research data sets, and using sound judgement to assess data quality.
  • An understanding of different types of quantitative and qualitative research methods and using data to understand consumer behaviour.
  • Ability to examine data sets and present data back in the most appropriate manner, following guidelines and best practices.
  • Experience or strong willingness to develop expertise in audience planning tools such as TGI, YouGov Profiles, social listening tools such as Brandwatch and Meltwater, and industry insight tools such as Mintel, Foresight Factory, Statista.
  • Developing expertise in the production of research materials such as questionnaires and discussion guides.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent WPP in a professional manner.
  • A good understanding of project management principles for research and insight projects (briefing, proposals, timelines, reporting).
