Highways Operatives

Industry: civil engineering

Location: Isle of Wight

Hours: 7.30am - 4.30pm (39 hours per week, overtime may be required/available)

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: immediate start - ongoing

Duties:

  • Groundswork and civil engineering duties
  • Operation of machinery, power and hand tools
  • Drainage, concreting, kerbing/block laying and tarmacking
  • Manual handling duties, unloading and loading vehicles
  • Driving, vehicle checks and reporting maintenance
  • Adherence to health and safety and highways regulations, technical specifications and quality standards

Experience:

  • Must have good level of previous groundswork experience including hand lay tarmac
  • Must have a full driver’s license, 7.5 tonne (C1) driving license preferred
  • Street works and NPORS plant operator tickets an advantage
  • Must be physically fit, due to the nature of the duties
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team, outdoors, in all weathers, with good health and safety awareness

Salary: £13.38 per hour worked, rates increase after 12 weeks. Overtime paid at time and a half.
