Hours: 37 hours per week

Days: Monday - Friday

Duration: approx. 9 - 10 months

Duties:

  • To operate and carry out day to day maintenance of grass and hedge cutting machinery, hand and power tools.
  • Cutting and clearing hedges and rough verges.
  • Felling of small trees, tree branches and cutting and removal of fallen trees.
  • Installation/ fitting of signs and sign posts.
  • Installation and maintenance of stiles, gates, bridges, steps and all types of fencing.
  • Construction and maintenance of paths and drainage systems, ditches and clearance.
  • Assist in the removal of debris in the event of storms or flooding.
  • Carry out vehicle and plant maintenance checks.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in adherence to health and safety.

Experience:

  • Must have a good level of experience in garden or grounds maintenance including tree work and carpentry; previous countryside maintenance experience is an advantage.
  • Relevant qualifications/tickets are preferred and an advantage.
  • Must have a sound understanding of health and safety and a full driver’s license.
  • Must be physically fit and able to walk up to 6 miles per day and undertake manual handling duties in all weather conditions.
  • Must be organised with good communication skills and the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team, to instructions.
