Days: Monday - Friday
Duration: January 2026, temporary ongoing (temp to perm for the right candidate)
Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate groundworks and highways activities on site.
- Control of materials, plant and resources.
- Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to high standards.
- Use initiative to solve problems and keep projects on track.
- Act as an experienced charge hand, leading by example and maintaining communications with the team, managers and public.
Experience:
- Must have proven experience in all aspects of groundworks and highways works including previous experience as a charge hand or similar supervisory role.
- Must have a valid NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) accreditation and full driving license.
- Must have the ability to lead and manage a team effectively with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- 360 excavator / Dumper operation experience with the relevant plant operator tickets is preferred.
- Experience in hand laying asphalt is an advantage.
Salary: £15.00 per hour worked, overtime paid at time and a half, PAYE.
