General Counsel - Leading Investment Firm

The Opportunity

W&P Partners is proud to be partnering with a leading global investment firm in their search for a General Counsel. The firm backs high-growth technology businesses at the growth stage and offers an exceptional opportunity for a commercially minded, solutions-focused General Counsel to join the firm during a significant growth phase.

The Role

As General Counsel, you will report directly to the leadership team and serve as a key strategic advisor across all areas of the business. This is a broad and pivotal role, encompassing:

• Oversight of all legal and regulatory matters across the firm’s investment activities and internal operations.
• Advise on all legal aspects of venture capital and private equity transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring, and the negotiation of financings and exits across EMEA.
• Supporting fundraising activity, LP matters and fund formation in coordination with external counsel.
• Act as a trusted legal advisor to the investment team, supporting decision-making and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards.
• Providing commercial legal advice to portfolio companies when needed.
• Managing risk, compliance, governance and policies across the platform.
• Building out and evolving the legal function as the firm scales.

The Candidate

We’re looking for a highly capable and commercially astute lawyer with:

• Significant post-qualification experience (8+ PQE as a guide) gained at a leading city firm. Ideal candidates will have experience in a similar organisation.
• Deep knowledge of venture capital, private equity or growth-stage investments.
• Experience negotiating and executing complex investment transactions.
• Familiarity with fund structures, fundraising and LP matters.
• A pragmatic, hands-on mindset and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment.
• Experience launching a funds in the Middle East would be advantageous.
