Workshop HGV Mechanic
Salary Β£17.82 per hour
Hours 40 hours per week, 7.00am to 16.00pm

As a Workshop HGV Mechanic at FCC Environment, you will provide vital day-to-day servicing and repairs to our vehicle fleet. You will be expected to carry out maintenance tasks to a high standard, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and legally at all times, while always maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?
- Carry out day-to-day servicing and repairs to the FCC vehicle fleet
- Organise effective operational procedures and methods to meet contract requirements
- Ensure all allocated work is completed to an acceptable standard and timescale
- Ensure efficient use of resources including equipment, installations, vehicles and materials
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and all statutory requirements
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain relevant skills and knowledge
- Prepare and submit relevant paperwork, worksheets, and records
- Operate computers (including Excel) and other electronic equipment relevant to the role
- Ensure all operations are legally compliant and adhere to FCCs quality and environmental systems
- Undertake any other duties relevant to the post
What are we looking for?
- Clean driving licence (essential)
- HGV Class 2 licence (essential)
- Previous experience as an HGV mechanic (essential)
- Must supply own tools (essential)
- Safety conscious at all times
- Computer literate
- Self-motivated and able to work within defined timescales
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills with colleagues and management
- Awareness of transport legislation
- City & Guilds qualification in mechanical engineering (essential)
- Excellent timekeeping and professional approach to the role
- Flexibility with working hours some on-call duties may be required
- Willing to work overtime as required, including occasional weekend work to cover seasonal arrangements
- To be able to work Catch-up Saturdays after Bank Holidays
- CPC Driver Training (advantageous)
