Overview

Operational Team – Loader (Apprentice Urban Driver – HGV) at FCC Environment. This role offers an apprenticeship toward a nationally recognised Level 2 Urban Driver Apprenticeship, while supporting the delivery of household waste and recycling services.

Salary: £15,704 to £25,396.80 per annum
Hours: Full-time, with work patterns to be confirmed on appointment
Location: FCC Environment, Dartford Depot, Sandpit Road, Kent, DA1 5ED

What you will do

  • Collecting various waste streams (including food, glass, plastic, cans, paper, and card) from households and businesses
  • Loading recycling and waste into collection vehicles
  • Participating in the Level 2 Urban Driver Apprenticeship, including 20% off-the-job learning (e.g., theory sessions, e-learning, workshops)
  • Attending all scheduled apprenticeship sessions and assessments
  • Demonstrating safe working practices and high standards of health and safety
  • Maintaining cleanliness and supporting depot operations when required
  • Developing the skills and knowledge to eventually drive vehicles of up to 26 tonnes (subject to business needs and role availability)
  • Always following company policies and procedures

  • Learning content includes vehicle checks and defect reporting, safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques, understanding waste collection routes and schedules
