As a Driver / Loader at FCC Environment, you will play a vital role in the collection and sorting of recyclable materials, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles and supporting our commitment to sustainability. You will be expected to drive and load as part of a team, maintain high standards of safety, and provide excellent service to the community. This vacancy is for a full‑time position, working five days per week.
What will you be doing?
- Drive a recycling vehicle (up to 12‑tonne gross‑vehicle‑weight rigid)
- Collect recycling as part of a team, as a driver / loader
- Oversee the vehicle and crew at council tipping points, ensuring health and safety processes are followed
- Carry out necessary vehicle checks and complete all required paperwork
- Report all incidents on rounds, focusing on RDCs and assisted collections
- Assist in cleaning the depot and vehicles when required
- Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to all tasks
What are we looking for?
- A valid Cat C licence
- Valid digital tachograph card and driver’s CPC (minimum 35 hours completed)
- Courteous to the public and able to use your own initiative
- Willingness to both drive and load as required
- Ability to lead a small team and follow clear instructions
- Commitment to health and safety rules
- Previous experience is desirable, but full training will be provided
- Knowledge of the local area is advantageous but not essential
