Driver / Loader – Temporary
Salary £14.63 per hour
Hours 40 hours per week, 7am to 3:45pm
Location East Lothian, EH21 8PZ
As a Temporary Driver / Loader at FCC Environment, you will support waste and recycling collection services in East Lothian. You will be responsible for driving up to 12-tonne vehicles and loading collections of recycling materials such as food waste, glass, plastics, paper, and cards. Youll also play a key role in maintaining depot standards and ensuring all vehicle and safety procedures are followed.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week on a 6-month contract.

What will you be doing?
- Drive a refuse/recycling vehicle
- Report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to line management
- Oversee the vehicle at the council tipping points ensuring the crews follow laid-down Health and Safety Processes
- Manage your designated vehicle and carry out necessary vehicle checks
- Be in charge of all paperwork and report all incidences on the rounds
- Oversee a crew of up to two loaders per vehicle only
What are we looking for?
- A valid Cat C licence
- Valid digital tachograph card and drivers CPC (minimum 35 hours completed)
- Reliable with strong team leadership
- Willingness to load as well as drive
- Experience in waste collection is desirable but not essential full training will be provided
- Local area knowledge is advantageous
- Committed to health and safety best practices
