Driver / Loader – Temporary

Salary £14.63 per hour

Hours 40 hours per week, 7am to 3:45pm

Location East Lothian, EH21 8PZ

As a Temporary Driver / Loader at FCC Environment, you will support waste and recycling collection services in East Lothian. You will be responsible for driving up to 12-tonne vehicles and loading collections of recycling materials such as food waste, glass, plastics, paper, and cards. Youll also play a key role in maintaining depot standards and ensuring all vehicle and safety procedures are followed.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week on a 6-month contract.

What will you be doing?

  • Drive a refuse/recycling vehicle
  • Report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to line management
  • Oversee the vehicle at the council tipping points ensuring the crews follow laid-down Health and Safety Processes
  • Manage your designated vehicle and carry out necessary vehicle checks
  • Be in charge of all paperwork and report all incidences on the rounds
  • Oversee a crew of up to two loaders per vehicle only

What are we looking for?

  • A valid Cat C licence
  • Valid digital tachograph card and drivers CPC (minimum 35 hours completed)
  • Reliable with strong team leadership
  • Willingness to load as well as drive
  • Experience in waste collection is desirable but not essential full training will be provided
  • Local area knowledge is advantageous
  • Committed to health and safety best practices

Please note, this role will involve manual handling.
