Class 2 Driver
Salary Β£14.62 per hour
Hours 40 hours per week, 06:30 β 15:00
Location Chorley, PR26 7PF
As a Class 2 Driver at FCC Environment, you will support waste and recycling collection services in Chorley. You will be responsible for driving up to 18-tonne vehicles (12-tonne vehicle max) and assisting with the safe collection of domestic waste, and recycling materials including food waste, glass, plastics, paper, and card. You will also play a key role in maintaining depot standards and ensuring all vehicle and safety procedures are followed.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.
What will you be doing?
- Drive a refuse/recycling vehicle
- Report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to line management
- Work as part of a team to complete domestic and recycling collections, primarily as a driver (on occasion, you may be required to provide assistance with collections)
- Oversee the vehicle at the council tipping points ensuring the crews follow laid down Health and Safety Processes
- Manage your designated vehicle and carry out necessary vehicle checks
- Oversee all paperwork and report all incidents on the rounds
What are we looking for?
- A valid Cat C licence
- Valid digital tachograph card and Drivers CPC (minimum 35 hours completed)
- Reliable with strong team leadership
- Willingness to load as well as drive
- Experience in waste collection is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided
- Local area knowledge is advantageous
- Committed to health and safety best practices
