An opportunity has arisen for an Income Recovery Officer to join our Customer Service team at Worthing Homes. Worthing Homes is a forward-looking housing association dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality homes and services to our local communities. We're a small but dynamic organisation, managing 4,000 homes serving over 10,000 residents across our range of properties from social housing to sheltered accommodation to shared ownership properties.

About The Role
As an Income Recovery Officer, you will play a vital role, working closely with customers to manage and recover arrears while helping them sustain their tenancies. Assigned to a specific geographical area, you will monitor rent accounts, take appropriate action, and ensure a consistent approach to arrears management. Collaborating with our Housing Management team, you will handle enforcement actions, including initiating proceedings through the County Court, attending hearings, and managing any subsequent outcomes. You will also offer advice and information to customers on benefits, budgeting, and arrears. Where necessary, you will refer residents to our Financial Inclusion team or external agencies for further support, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their financial well-being.
What We’re Looking For
Practical experience of income recovery in a registered provider of social housing is essential along with a solid understanding of welfare benefits and housing legislation related to rent recovery and tenant support. You will be tenacious and resilient, with strong communication and negotiation skills, enabling you to engage effectively with customers facing financial challenges. Proven customer service experience is a must; we pride ourselves on our customer focus and so we are seeking a like-minded individual who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and working positively to resolve issues. You will have a proactive and solution-focused approach, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. Collaboration is important in this role, so you should have experience building strong working relationships with colleagues.
